A school project that made a real difference

What began as a geography assignment on the theme of “changing the world” became a meaningful contribution to the work of SeeKenya.

When our trustee and manager, Paul, learned that his grandson Isaac had been set this project at his school in Portugal, he was delighted that Isaac chose to focus his efforts on supporting SeeKenya’s eye care work in Kenya.
Together, Isaac and his classmates organised a school-wide collection of unwanted glasses and accessories. Isaac played a key role in bringing the idea to life — designing posters, spreading the word and helping coordinate the campaign across the school.
Thanks to the generosity of students and staff, the campaign collected around 50 pairs of prescription glasses, 50 pairs of sunglasses, 100 glasses cases and 150 cleaning cloths.
These donations will now travel with our team to Kenya, where they will support SeeKenya’s clinics and help deliver life-changing eye care to people who otherwise may have little or no access to vision services.
We’re incredibly grateful to Isaac and his friends for their support and for helping share SeeKenya’s work with people in Portugal. What a great example of how a simple idea in a classroom can lead to real impact beyond the school gates.
